It simply seems redundant to complain about the bus service in this city or even to mention that the drivers aren't so much interested in doing their job as they are in driving past someone who is trying to hail them down in the driving rain as they look the other direction like a five year old who is trying to pretend he wasn't watching.
That said though, out of idle curiosity, I sent in a complaint to dublin bus, time will tell if they get back to me... ever.
Here's the initial complaint:
"This morning I was waiting for the number 10 bus along with a large number of other people. As usual, two number 10s arrived within seconds of each other at our bus stop, the first one to arrive was almost full, the second was only half full.
However, despite the fact that the bus was half empty the driver refused to let anyone on, several of us assumed that this was because he wasn't quite at the bus stop and would pull up and let us on.
However, when the first bus pulled away , the second (half empty) one drove straight past the bus stop despite my attempts to hail him down and the fact that he could see me clearly.
Needless to say I was not very amused by this turn of events and was left waiting another twenty minutes for another number 10 to arrive, all the while standing in this morning's extremely heavy rain.
I look forward to an explanation of the driver's behaviour at your earliest convenience, specifically why he would not stop at a bus stop where he was being clearly and properly waved down."
Wow, this week is just being a cornucopia of official corruption and wankery, more open lies from the government (Minister "I never had anything to do with that unpaid 5K debt to Aer Rianta for booze and smokes" Brennan, Bertie "Minister Brennan is an honest and decent man" "dickmuncher" Ahern and Fianna "Crime figures are down dramatically" Fail) Garda commissioner Pat Byrne claims that the officers refusing to co-operate with an official investigation are fine and groovy and the ones who claimed they saw nothing are being perfectly honest. The entire force is suffering blow after blow to it's reputation because of the actions of a few officers (but more importantly the unwillingness of the force in general to DO anything about it) Taxi drivers are bemoaning the fact that they're going to end up having to issue recipts and obey a code of conduct (yay, no more rants about d'immigrants) Dublin bus attempts to scam the customers by pretending to drop a fare by 5 cents when what they actually MEANT was "raise it by 25" and the weather is completly fucking shit.
There is now officially no good reason to live here apart from obligations. I wouldn't mind if the gimps here were competent and corrupt but their method of deceit is not to come up with something convincing, instead they just deny everything, even when presented with the photo of them cashing a bribe made out to cheque....
