The organisation for the support of victims of abuse today announced that they would have to close their operation as a result of the government withdrawing the necessary funds.

It's not all bad though, the ministers still get their chauffeur driven cars, massive expense accounts and perks. The government can still afford a new jet on the pretext that not doing so would make us a laughing stock when we take over the european presidency in the next few months. The pointless expensive tribunals can still go ahead unabated. The government can still award themselves pay increases retroactively for the past year, they can allow massive increases in health insurance, TV licenses, refuse collection, electrictiy, transport and anything else they can think of (while branding those that object "scroungers") and they're more than happy to introduce measures wherby the parents of juvenile offenders will be hit for a 3000 euro bill for an offence committed by their child (as long as the kid doesn't have rich parents who can afford a decent lawyer, or live in dublin 4 in general) - which is cool, given that the present government has done so much to contribute to the general lawlessness in our country by rendering the justice system all but impotent.

Lets not also forget that this lack of funding exists in light of the government's deal with the church to pay out the bulk of settlements to victims of clerical abuse (Spot the irony) - rather than letting justice be done and having the church deal with decades of coverups and manipulation and god damnit - forcing the silence of the families of the abused through threats and blackmails.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I'm not a violent man, not given to cruelty or wishing it upon others, but in this case it is my sincere hope that the current government all die screaming.

Theres a passage at the end of stupid white men, that has Micheal Moore asking that everyone pray with him for all politicians everywhere to be aflicted with every disease and misfortunate and "misfortune" known to man, because only be experincing something personally, or in their own families, can they truly support it.

I read it and while I reckon it could apply in america where affluence is something that's existed in certain families for generations, our politicians are not so far above the rest of us. They just seem to abandon all morals upon entering office.

Spongers indeed.
