Two stories of interest today. The first has already been posted by muskrat_john but I like this link better.
You do not know fear until you have faced down a nine foot, four hundred kilo sabre toothed duck.

From Dublin Zoo no less. Moron sticks hands into tiger cage. Tigers react appropriately. She lives but Darwin was seen nodding sagely. Happily, from the end of the article

"Mr Oosterweghel said the tigers would not be destroyed.
"They are beautiful animals and this was a natural reaction for the tigers if someone sticks their hand through the mesh," he said."

Well, you *do* know how much I love stories of idiot suffering. This one was exquisite, I hope it was a "I am one with the animals" hippie who can't respect the difference between tame and "Will kill you if you look at me crossways" beasties.

Drunk teenager who wanted to pet the nice fluffy animal, it seems.

Actually, she's reputedly from Carlow...

Ouch! What a dumb thing to do. What a dumb think to do while drunk. I am glad I was never that dumb when I was a teenager. Poor girl.

Sorry, I simply can't have the slightest shred of sympathy for her, not a trace. *ANYONE* dumb enough to climb in with caged beasts capable of killing something ten times your own size deserves every last thing coming to them, it wasn't an accident, it isn't like she was being casually stupid and reaching across a small divide, this was concerted, devoted idiocy that needlessly called away an ambulance, probably traumatised several people and ruined a lot of peoples' day out (not that I expect the place was crammed but...) If she was suicidal then.. sure.. some sympathy for what drove her to it but otherwise... god...
Anyway, any thought processes I have about her are devoted to prayer that she won't ever have kids.

I really can't get over that dimwittedness. I was at the zoo myself last Saturday. There are GREAT BIG NOTICES warning you that the animals are dangerous. There are HUGE GREAT FENCES between you and them. Even if Ms.Idiot couldn't read the notices, surely the existence of THREE fences between her and the tigers might have been a clue?

I fully expect her to sue Dublin Zoo as soon as she's out of hospital. I only hope she gets laughed out of court for expecting a tiger not to bite what looks like lunch.

Yes, she probably will sue. And she won't get laughed at either.....ho hum..

Nah, the zoo would be well and truly safe I reckon, they took every realistic precaution to prevent this from happening and a) if she was drunk then the zoo can't be held responsible or b) if she wasn't as drunk as you'd think then she did it deliberately and the zoo can't be held accountable.
