Motivations for becoming a luddite #8: Trying to install a SATA drive as the primary hard disk when I don't own a floppy drive which I need to install the sodding drivers for the disk and other stuff I read on various forums which quickly blended into a white noise of irritation before I gave up on it, installed Half Life 2: Episode 1 and obliterated evil for half an hour.

Then I went looking on fileplanet.com for the new WoW patch and saw this, it made me laugh a lot (worksafe in as much as say... swimsuits would be worksafe)

I compiled the five pages of the ad into one image here. This is an online magazine it turns out. I have to admit to being *utterly* mystified by this... Its kind of creepy but..

However, today is payday, which is always good. My arms have stopped cramping up and I can straighten them without any pain - which obviously means I wreck them again this evening with another routine of lifting weights. Tomorrow evening is one of the four times of the year I get quaff two bottles of wine and half a bottle of whiskey, get ridiculously drunk and stagger home, doing accidental property damage along the way. Life is good - which obviously means something terrible is about to happen.

Is the middle one Marilyn Manson?

Fri, Jun. 23rd, 2006 10:16 am (UTC)

Probably not, she's creepy and androgynous alright but not nearly creepy and androgynous enough.

From Wikipedia - "Androgyny refers to two concepts. The first is the mixing of masculine and feminine characteristics". The second is in describing something that is neither masculine nor feminine.

So, by the first definition, it is the lack of a wanger that prevents #3 from being properly androgynous but Mr Manson has both a wanger and occasional boobs. Hence, my original statement that she seemed creepy and androgynous but was not as creepy and androgynous as Mr Manson is correct according to SCIENCE!

I have to admit to have some Lady Death comics at home.. but only so I can boast about my wonderful A3 size poster of Purgatory!

Nowt wrong with that, I've played BloodRayne (leftmost character) and whatever it is the rightmost character is from. I just have difficulty getting my head around the idea of a skin mag devoted to characters who exist purely for the purpose of beating seven kinds of hell out of zombies. I guess I just find it odd that people would pay to see nekkid rendered/painted women when there are nekkid *real* women on the internets.

Probably stems from my dislike of people who post nothing but topless 3D women on 3D art galleries.

Fri, Jun. 23rd, 2006 10:38 am (UTC)

Heh, this is why I only have a few. Apart from the start of the Lady Death character, and the final battle lines, the story wasn't all that great.. and I much prefered Purgatory anyway....

I don't know, I kind of have a liking for animation over "real" nekkid women. Real pron on the net, tends to be plasticisied, enhanced, bleached inventions (that I've seen), whereas amination will for me, provide proper and actual fantasy... does that make any sort of sense?

Fri, Jun. 23rd, 2006 10:48 am (UTC)

Yeah, I get you. I also kind of figure that (on reflection) theres no chance of anyone getting "hurt" by this. Real nekkid women? a lot of them try to leave that behind and it ends up following them years later. I've read plenty of stories that went along the lines of "Woman sues company who fired her over nude pictures taken twenty years previously". Not going to happen to Lara Croft though.
So yeah, I guess if people are going to have their fantasies it might as well be 100% fantasy, it seems like there'll be less chance of blurring the lines between that and reality if the women involved are purely fictional (well, more purely fictional than Samantha (Blonde, 42DD-24-42) from Ohio whos turn-ons are geeky overweight guys "They're just so cute" she giggles, computer games "I like... dume!" she titters, and talking about linux distros "The penguin is so cute!" she exclaims, while giggling.)

Maybe something new & disgusting will try to come out of your face & kill you?

Fri, Jun. 23rd, 2006 10:33 am (UTC)

Now you mention it, one of my special supersized "Oh my GOD its TICKLING MY BRAIN!" boogers seems to be lurking back there somewhere. I can feel it poking the back of my eye when I sniff.

Nah, its cool, it came out unusually easily. Wasn't even all that big after all, certainly not worth adding to my photo gallery.

I am not standing next to either of you tomorrow! You both sound highly contagious!
Also, I dont want a Wombat booger to jump out & decide to take down those in close proximity just for the hell of it .
(In case you don't recognise me I'll be the one in the surgical mask carrying the Dettol spray. Be gone evil boogers of Doom!)

You should be fine, once I take one out and shoot it they usually take about a week to reform, rebuild and regroup and once again try to make their way into my brainmeats.

It *might* be Taarna from Heavy Metal magazine - which has had a computer game made around it (though she wasn't a protagonist she may have been an enemy or something, I know little enough about LD *or* Taarna) rather than the Lady Death comic/animation which hasn't had a game. Alternatively since she's a large breasted comic book icon with a pretty horrible publishing history (most of the people who owned the license to her have gone out of business) whose image rights would be relatively cheap to license or whose publishers would be willing to use anything they could to get her image back into the geek mainstream.

Fri, Jun. 23rd, 2006 05:01 pm (UTC)

Nope, tis definatly LD.
As for the unfortuantly going out of business it tends to be from untimely deaths.
