After a freezing evening in the house the heating is working after a team effort of cartographer and her "researching it on the internet" and "application of logic" techniques and my "twiddle dials until something goes "burble" principles. My powerbook now has its new name too, no thanks to those of you who suggested. It is called Karma, because I was lucky enough to get it the day after I cleaned encrusted poop from a rabbit's backside and lady bits. All in all, a relatively productive day.

I wish I could say I was surprised by the rioting and looting in town today but I'm not. Even last night when I was talking to followthebird I was thinking "Y'know what, I'm always so pessimistic about these things and I'm always predicting a riot and it never happens, so this time I'll have some faith in humanity" and then that happened. A lot of innocent people were hurt and we got a chance to see just how stupid and worthless our politicians are again (sure, ban peaceful parades about cycling but let the most contentious bunch of ignorant cunts in the country do theirs). Its just a shame Bertie and co couldn't have been present to show their support for equality and tolerance by getting punched in the neck like so many others.

I take it that means you didn't venture out for a look, then?

I was in town a bit later in the day, while it was all still happening but it seemed to be moving away from wherever I was.
