Serenity? I wish...

I don't know about anyone else, but I've always felt that if I pay nine quid to watch a movie, and someone else decides to talk through it, I should be allowed shoot him. Of course, when it comes to geek movies, I'd probably need to reload - theres so many wankers reckon that being a geek gives them the right to yap their way through one of "their" movies. Good film though, once I filtered out the Sah Gwa[1]. Picked up the RPG afterwards too and it looks good, not to mention spoiler free (though I'd still reccomend seeing the movie before getting the book. I didn't like *everything* about it but overall it was an awesome movie.
I say that in retrospect though, I was in a foul mood as I left the cinema but it turned out that was being caused by the food poisioning myself and Brid contracted in Beshoff's fish and chip shop on O Connell St (I had chips and scampi, she had chips and a chicken burger and I was a damned sight worse off than she was, make of that what you will.

[1] According to the RPG - Stupid Melonheads. The book doesn't include a translation for "noisy fuckwit".

My sympthies on the food poisoning, but Beshoff's - what were you thinking?!

Too bad about the bigmouth in the cinema - having had the same annoyances myself, I agree with the shooting concept.

Something along the lines of "Theres nowhere else bar McDonalds and Burder King and we've only got half an hour before the movie starts."
I've had nice food in Beshoff's before, when it was on Westmoreland St but to be honest - yeah, I probably should have used my better judgement really, the place looked a little grubby and the staff a little tired, bored and not entirely pushed about what they were doing.

There was another jackass with a mobile phone who let it ring for about thirty seconds, I just can't understand these people, I cannot *comprehend* the mindset that thinks the "Shut the fuck up and switch off your phone" messages don't apply to them.

if you want to know some of the chinese from the show, check this out. it's fairly decently done, according to various chinese speakers i've talked to.

The day swearing in mandarin enters common use I'll be a happy man, I've always thought it was pretty stylish. I'm not going to be blazing any trails in starting new fashions though :)

what's funny is: i got my buddy's mother-in-law addicted to Firefly, and now she's a hardcore[sic] browncoat all the way. She's a risk manager for our city; her office assistant hates it when she swears, so she's learned a few key phrases from firefly in mandarin and basically wanders around city hall swearing in (very poor) chinese most days.

for the record, I also got her addicted to firearms - she went out and bought a pistol, and in addition to wandering around city hall swearing in (very poor) chinese, she also mounts her paper targets on her office door. Good stuff!
