Only one problem with it really, I've never liked Weiss' stuff, I've barely even read it, its like my kryptonite, I can barely stomach the thought of touching them. I get an honest to god physical reaction to the thought, right now I'm nauseous.
I'm sure the source material is strong enough to utterly smother whatever it is that annoys me. I just hope that... well, that it was given to an intern to write or something while Weiss sat back on the throne of money made from horrible novels.

If it's any consolation she didn't write most of it. However, in saying that, I do like her stuff a lot.

That helps alright. From what I've read, its a lot like Buffy in that the style of english is more like whats in the show than "proper" english so the odds of me feeling her style through that is slim enough but the less chance, the better :)

Well then go watch Firefly for source material, and use the Deadlands system to play, and don't buy the book at all. There's not many places the Deadlands system fits nicely, but Firefly would be one of the few. Indiana Jones, I reckon, would be another.

By all accounts thats what most folks have been doing up until now. Lost Colony might be better (if harder to find) since it presumably already contains a lot of the same elements. I reckon what might swing it is if the Serenity RPG expands much on the background and personalities (like the Buffy RPG did for example) or is just a rehash of everything someone who has seen the show would already know.
