Friday - moved house a bit, did the essentials and got my bedclothes and some underpants over to the new house. As with every time I try moving anything on my own I ended up overachieving and carting a backpack, a rucksack, a satchel and a box of books every trip. The upshot is that every muscle in my entire body is pretty annoyed at me right now but hey - I got enough moved to keep me entertained on the boring sunday that was to follow. I'd fully intended to go to fibbers on friday night but by the time we were satisfied that we had all we needed I was too tired to stand up straight, much less head into town. bringasice, gothwalk and sabayone all loaned a hand one way or the other and there was eventually beer and pizza while gazing in awe at the awesomeness that is our massive garden.

EDIT: And how could I forget, utterlymundane came over for a while and pretended to be a nerfbat wielding ninja decapitating nefarious weeds on the patio and determining the best vantage points for nerf related assassination attempts from our apple tree.

Saturday - With cartographer in the other side of the country it was up to me to motivate myself and get the rabbits and their cages moved and needless to say I overachieved again. Four hours and countless trips to and fro on what I'm certain was the hottest day so far this year left me a little on the cranky side but I got it all done and a long, glorious, and above all *cold* shower sorted me out and I went in to fibbers in an effort to do something more interesting than sitting in the house staring at the walls and going slowly mad (talking to myself wasn't going to cut it this time, I needed someone to say "shut up Glen, you're being nuts" every so often). It was fun, I met loads of people I've not seen in ages, the music was generally pretty good and there were women with pink hair wearing PVC and fishnets, which is, historically, something I've never complained about. The downside was a rather stupid decision by me to avoid the taxi rank queues and walk a little ways out of town and catch one on their way back in - it was an hour later by Jury's Inn in donnybrook before that one panned out.

Sunday was a bit shorter, what with me waking up at 4pm. I watched some X files (including a truly horrendous episode written by William Gibson which cemented my opinion that he can't write worth a damn), massaged sore muscles and went back to bed without setting my alarm clock. Luckily an angry truck driver dealt with that problem at around 8:25 (it looks like the traffic might be better than any alarm clock in future).

After a chat with cartographer we decided that the housewarming will officially be on saturday the 30th of July - a little ways off I know, but its about the closest weekend that we're even reasonably sure everyone is around for. More details will follow closer to the date but there will probably be a bbq involved somehow, I want to involve limbo dancing but I suspect that might not pan out.

I better make a note myself, I know I'll wake up that morning going "theres something about today...."

Don't you *love* moving?

I could tell the tale of 29 IKEA boxes, but I'll refrain.

The bit that really troubles me is that it was easier to move into the pokey little apartment we're leaving than it is to get the hell out of it. Every time I tried leaving on saturday I was getting snagged, snared or tripping over some damned thing that I'm certain wasn't there a minute previously.

Oh, and... hell, go for it with the ikea story, times like this I revel in the misfortune of others :)
