You guys think you have it tough doing occasional tech support for your parents. I'm attempting to do a complete reinstallation of windows XP professional and antivirus and firewall along with changes to the bios all over the phone to my folks who, god bless them, know nothing about computers.

This will end in tears and disinheritance.

I usually handle this by Doing The Darn Thing Myself.

And blame any problems on my brother.

Yup, tears.. it won't install for some reason. Probably XP acting the fuck because we tried installing over an existing installation.

Mine are quite the opposite. They know they have no idea (I had to explain the classic F8 != F and 8) and if a virus is released anywhere in the world it gets onto their PC and destroys everything.

Um??? Ok, clearly I have no idea either, hence the frequent cries of 'Daaaaaddy... Why is the computer...???'
