Little known fact, in China, in the middle ages, they used to torture spies and prisoners by forcing them to sit in an office for hours with nothing to do except to endlessly check the same sheet of paper, waiting for a message to appear.

Alternatively they made them watch a little caterpillar crawl slowly from one end of a stick to the other. The caterpillars were specially bred to occasionally pause and sometimes move backwards.

Comparably, European tortures included placing a rat in a bottomless metal cage on a prisoner's chest, then heating the cage slowly. As the temperature rose, the rat would become more and more panicked, and eventually dig its way out through the victim's flesh.
An alternative involved soaking the prisoner's feet in salt water and then bringing in a goat to lick the salt away. The salt water softened the victim's skin such that the goat's roughened tongue would slowly strip the skin from his feet.

Which is *nothing* compared to what I'm going to do to one particular moron in the morning when I catch her.

(bad day at the office)
