Other than that...

Does anyone have a link to information about this smoking ban? Something brief yet informative would be best I guess. I'm hearing mutterings that it actually bans smoking within six yards of the door of a workplace and I'd rather know the facts before I go about getting suckered in by rumour and heresay. Come to think of it, if anyone has any health and safety guidelines for the place of work (building and general conditions) that would be handy for my upcoming crusade against overheated rooms and air conditioning systems full of dead cat.
Other than my traveling woes over the weekend I had a lovely relaxing time with metalrabbit, the benefits of which are sure to evaporate before I get much further into this working day but I intend to enjoy this rare feeling of peace and inner calm.

I reckon that the Smoke Free at Work website might be what you're looking for.

It would be if it didn't have that grinning corpse of a harlequin Micheal Martin on the first page.

Honestly, he shoves a law through with no real consideration of the consequences and leaves it up to everyone else to make a success of it and HE'S the one being hailed as the man who made it work, a visionary if you will...

Rant aside, that looks like the one alright, thanks :)

I've been asking since I heard about this law what they are going to do about the increased litter outside pubs, who will be responsible for cleaning it up, whether there will be additional money provided, additional litter bins, those wall-mounted ashtrays.

It seems they didn't even think of that until recently, and that website's relevant FAQ says "Littering is a crime which it is up to the council to enforce" - very fucking helpful. Are they getting any more money to do so? Does anybody actually *know*? Is it all going to work like magic?

I don't think it'll matter in a year, memories are short and they'll be able to claim it as a flawless success by election time.

"Personally, as long as the atmosphere inside is clean enough, I'll hold my damn breath when I walk outside. :-)"

Good advice given that on O connell st at least you're being exposed to easily as much carcogenic material while walking around as you would be in a pub for the same period of time.
Cars... they're a filthy habbit.
